Review & Photos of Circus Circus Reno

Circus Circus Reno, a Mandalay Bay Resort Group property, is at the north end of the downtown casino area. An indoor walkway connects the resort with Silver Legacy, and thus guests have convenient access to a number of other casinos, dining, and entertainment options.

Circus Circus is the most family oriented casino hotel in the Reno area with plenty of features to please underage guests, such as free circus acts, a carnival midway, and video game arcades. Despite the masses of children, the gaming, dining, and entertainment here are sophisticated enough to appeal to a wider clientele.

The Amtrak station is just a few blocks away for those who might want to come up from California on the train. The station is served by the California Zephyr which arrives each morning from Chicago and each afternoon from Emeryville in the Bay area and intermediate stops.

Circus Circus Hotel

Circus Circus Reno has over 1,500 rooms and suites in two hotel towers: the Sky Tower and the Casino Tower.

The 28-story Sky Tower is quite a walk from the main registration desk; however, there is a tram that will take you to the tower, or you can walk through one of the parking garages. It is also now possible to check in at the Sky Tower front desk. Using this option would make for a much more convenient check in process.

On both of our visits to Circus Circus, we stayed in high floor rooms, which have spectacular views of Reno, Sparks, and the surrounding mountains.

The rooms, tastefully decorated in purple and with a turn of the century European circus theme, were average in size. Standard amenities included a coffee maker, hairdryer, clock radio, iron and board, pay-per-view movies, internet, and games (no fridge). Cribs are available (no charge). The bathroom was roomy with granite countertops and shower walls.

There is no swiming pool yet, but one is planned to open in 2008. For now, they do have an exercise facility, wedding chapel, a business center, ample free parking in the garages, rv parking, and the hotel runs an airport shuttle.

Pets - Circus Circus's Hound Hotel is a kennel located across from the Sky Tower Hotel lobby. Each individual kennel is equipped with a camera, so guests can view their pooch directly from their room television.

Slots & Video Poker - The casino has a lot of two coin slots and many progressives. With more than 1200 slots and video poker machines in denominations from one cent up to five dollars, they seem to have all of the latest and most popular games with no waiting (except possibly during peak weekend hours).

Circus Circus also has live keno, table games (44 tables), a poker room, and a race and sports book.

The Poker Room - Has about 10 tables and offers daily tournament with buy-ins starting at just $17.

Slot Club - Circus Circus is part of the Mandalay Resort Group and participates in The One Club players card. This is an attractive program because it also includes five casinos in Las Vegas (Mandalay Bay, Luxor, Excalibur, Monte Carlo and the Circus Circus) as well as their properties in Laughlin and Tunica.

Circus Circus Dining Reno Guide -

Circus Circus has six eateries, most of which are found along a sort of restaurant row.

The Main Street Deli and Ice Cream Shoppe features large sandwiches (most are about $6), salads, pastries, Krispy Kreme donuts, Startbucks coffee, ice cream, and snacks. The service and food were both good. The deli is a nice, bright and quiet oasis from the hustle and bustle of the casino. One complaint is that they do not have Dr. Pepper.

The Courtyard Buffet is usually rated as one of the worst in Reno, as is its counterpart in Las Vegas. Nevertheless, there were quite a few people going in. The buffet features an omelet station for breakfast, Asian, Mexican, and pizza stations, plus kids favorites. Prices were $6 for breakfast, $7 for lunch, and $10 for the dinner buffet.

Americana Cafe, which replaced the Three Ring Coffee Shop, serves breakfast around the clock, soups and sandwiches, burgers and steaks, comfort foods such as grilled cheese sandwiches, pot pie, roast turkey dinner, and country fried steak, plus other coffee shop fare.

Bonici Brothers Pizzeria, replaced Art Geckos Southwest Grill. Serves personal and full-sized pizza, wings, sandwiches, burgers, and salads. Wash it down with a pitcher of beer or a margarita from Gecko's Bar.

Kokopelli's Sushi is located within Bonici Bros Pizzeria and was the first sushi bar in a Reno resort. Order ala carte, or enjoy the all-you-can-eat option.

The Steakhouse at Circus is open for dinner and is home to the resort's early bird prime rib special. Most entrees range from $13 to $28. Dishes include prime rib (from $12), chicken, seafood, and ribs ($13).
