Review & Photos of John Acsuaga's Nugget, Sparks, NV
Located in Sparks, which is about two miles east of Reno, John Ascuaga's Nugget is a large resort with
a sprawling casino, lots of entertainment, a convention center, and a hotel containing 1600 rooms.
The Nugget is adjacent to the Sparks AMTRAK station and I-80, making it
very convenient to get to. Spark's Victorian Square is an attraction in itself; it hosts
a number of popular annual festivals, and it is home to a number shops, restaurants, as well as
several smaller casinos.

The casino is 85,000 square feet in size with ceilings that are
low and mirrored. Slots dominate the landscape; and the Nugget features all of the latest and
most popular machines and progressives.
Table Games include: Black Jack, Craps, Roulette, Three Card Poker, Fortune Pai Gow
Poker, and Let It Ride.
The Race & Sports Book, which includes the Sports Bar and Deli, is located on the lower level
away from the noise of the main casino floor. The race area's wood trim and walls
decorated with racing themed illustrations give the space a rather elegant feel. Patrons can
follow all the action on the numerous screens from the comfort of green leather booths and
chairs. However, the room's low ceiling can make it difficult to see the monitors from some spots.
Poker Room - Ascuaga's poker room is fairly small (5 tables), and runs Texas Hold 'Em and
7 Card Stud.
Keno
There are two keno games to choose from with 5˘ - 10˘ - 25˘ - 50˘ bets available (but the
usual $1.00 minimum per game applies). Keno tournaments are held every month or so with an
initial
entry fee generally at $400, which includes: $300 in tournament play money, a room for 2 nights and $40
in food credit. The tournaments take about six and one-half hours, all in one day.
Bingo is played daily from 11 AM.

John Ascuaga's Nugget Hotel
The Nugget has 1600 rooms. There are three room types: tower, courtyard, and roof garden.
A majority of the rooms are contained in the 29-story towers, with the balance located in the 5-story
Nugget Courtyard. Overall room quality is among the highest
in the Reno area. Our standard, tower room was spacious and contained two desks and a sofa.
The Nugget is a full-service resort, with amenities for both business and relaxation
including: convention and business centers, a health club and spa, a salon, free
airport shuttle, an arcade, and wedding chapel.
There are also two nice swimming pools, including a year-round indoor one with an immersion waterfall and a family-sized hot tub.
