Sparks, Nevada Orientation

Sparks, which is Nevada's fifth largest city, is located 4 miles from downtown Reno. Visitors flock to Spark's Victorian Square, which is home to some of Northern Nevada's most popular events as well as one of the area's largest casino resorts (Ascuaga's Nugget). Outdoor recreationists will enjoy Sparks Marina Lake Park, which offers swimming, fishing, and boating in an 80 acre man-made lake.

Location: Sparks is in the northeast quadrant of the Reno-Sparks Metro area. It is just 4 miles east of Reno's downtown and 3 miles north of Reno-Tahoe International Airport. The city is bisected by Interstate 80, and the major north-south thoroughfares are highway US-395 and McCarran Blvd. There is also an Amtrak station located in Sparks, with daily service by the California Zephyr.

Victorian Square attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors a year to its annual events including Hot August Nights, the Hometowne Farmer's Market (July-August), Silver Club's The Big Easy (July), the Nugget's Best in the West Rib Cook-Off (Labor Day Weekend), Spark's Hometowne Christmas, and others.

The Silver Club is located across the street from John Ascuaga's Nugget in Victorian Square. This is a smaller, inexpensive casino with a hotel.

Gaming The casino is 28,000 square feet and has 600 gaming machines and ten table games (bj, craps, roulette, 3-card poker), keno, and a sports book.
Dining Port of Subs (submarine sandwiches), Town Square Restaurant (coffee shop), and Town Square Buffet.

Western Village Inn & Casino

Western Village, which is owned by the Peppermill, is located just west of McCarran Blvd and north of I-80. From the outside it is quite bland, but inside is a glitzy, clean, new casino with four restaurants. There is also a motel on premises.

Gaming 1000 slots and video poker machines, 10 table games (blackjack, roulette, carps), and a sports book.
Dining Cafe Espresso (snack bar), Marina Cafe (coffee shop), the Vineyard (Italian, Mexican, Asian, and American fare), and the Steakhouse (dinner only).

Rail City Casino

Rail City is a locals casinos located a few blocks west of Victorian Square. It is owned by Terrible Herbst Gaming Corporation, which also owns the Sands Regency in Reno.

Gaming The casino is over 16,000 square feet with approximately 1000 gaming machines, several tables (blackjack and poker), keno, and sports book.
Dining Rail City's restaurants are the City Cafe (coffee shop fare and a buffet), and the Rail City Ale House.

Baldini's Sports Casino

Baldini's is a locals casino located south of I-80 at the intersection of Glendale and S Rock Blvd.

Dining Includes the Brickyard Bar & Grill, the Empire Diner, and the Fallen Leaf Buffet.
