Lake Tahoe's North Shore
Like the South Shore, Tahoe's North Shore is rich in nature and outdoor recreational
opportunities such as marinas, beaches, hiking trails, and winter sports venues. There is a
dense concentration of ski areas including world-class names like Squaw Valley, Donner, and
Sugar Bowl in California, and Diamond Peak in Nevada. The region is also home to the Ponderosa
Ranch, which was made famous in the television show Bonanza and is now a major tourist attraction.
Casinos in the region are found in the towns of Crystal Bay and Incline Village. Both towns
lie along Highway 28, with Crystal Bay on the California - Nevada stateline, and Incline Village
several miles further east. Compared to their counterparts to the south, the North Shore casinos are
much smaller and more intimate.
Crystal Bay, Nevada
The casinos in Crystal Bay are all within feet of the California state line on Highway 28.
They include:
- Cal-Neva Resort
- Crystal Bay Club
- Nugget Casino
- Tahoe Biltmore
Incline Village, Nevada
Several miles east of Crystal Bay, Incline Village is home to the Ponderosa Ranch,
Diamond Peak ski area, and one casino resort:
Crystal Bay Club
Crystal Bay Club is just inside the state line on Highway 28. It is conveniently located
in close proximity to three other casinos: Cal-Neva Resort and Jim Kelley's Nugget Casino are next door,
while the Tahoe Biltmore is right across the street.
This is a small, friendly casino with a relaxed atmosphere. The casino measures approximately
20,000 square feet. There are roughly 300 slots and video poker machines, about one dozen
table games, as well as a race and sports book. There is also an arcade for the
kids.
Crystal Bay Club (Nugget Casino in background)
Crystal Bay Club has two restaurants: The Patio Grill is open for lunch and dinner, whereas
The Steak and Lobster House is a more upscale choice for dinner. The Crystal Room is
available for banquets, special events, and entertainment.
The casino's entertainment schedule includes both free musical acts in the Red Room as well as paid concerts in the Crown Room.

Jim Kelley's Tahoe Nugget Casino
The Nugget is also on Highway 28 near the state line in the heart of Crystal Bay. The
Tahoe Biltmore, Crystal Bay Club, and Cal-Neva Resort are all close by. This is a very small and
casual casino with under 200 machines (slots and video poker). There is also a bar and grill with outdoor
patio seating.
Tahoe Nugget
Tahoe Biltmore
The Tahoe Biltmore is another small, affordably-priced casino hotel on Highway 28 in
Crystal Bay. It is located just inside the
state line across the street from Crystal Bay Club and the Nugget.
The Biltmore consists of a) a hotel with approximately 90 rooms, suites, and cottages, plus
a seasonal outdoor swimming pool; b) a small casino with 400 slot and video poker machines,
15 table games, keno, and a sports book; c) two restaurants; and d) a nightclub. Free live musical acts are frequently scheduled. There is also an outdoor spa, and arcade, and rv parking.
Tahoe Biltmore's restaurants are: Cafe Biltmore, which serves coffee shop fare and
has some attractively priced specials (e.g. $1.99 breakfast, $5.95 prime rib dinner). Conrad's Steaks, Chops, and Sea Food House
is open for dinner only. Entrees include
steak ($20-23), fish ($18-20), bbq ($12-17), and pasta dishes ($14-18).

Cal-Neva Resort
Cal Neva Resort
The Cal-Neva Resort sits on the north shore of Lake Tahoe in Crystal Bay one block from Highway 28. It is literally on
top of the California-Nevada state line (the casino is, of course, on the NV side) and within walking distance of the lake shore.
Three other Crystal Bay casinos are also with one block of the Cal Neva (the Biltmore, Crystal Bay Club, and the Nugget).
The resort has over 200 hotel rooms, an outdoor swimming pool, a spa, a restaurant, wedding facilities
with a fabulous view of the lake, an arcade, and a casino.
Cal-Neva Front Entrance
Guests have a choice of accomodations at the Cal-Neva. The hotel tower houses rooms and
suites with balconies and breath-taking views of Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Nevada. There
are also chalets and cabins, which offer more seclusion. The resort's
small outdoor swimming pool sits half in California and half in Nevada.
Cal-Neva Resort Hotel Tower
Cal-Neva's casino is small (under 20,000 square feet, with about 200 slots & vp, 10 tables, and live poker).
What it lacks in size, it makes up for in ambiance, scenery, and decor. The space is naturally
lit in daylight by windows overlooking the lake, while curiosities from the resort's rich
history adorn the walls and ceiling.

Other amenities at Cal-Neva include:
- Dining - The Lakeview Dining Room has a beautiful view of the lake. It is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The resort's Circle Bar
also offers a full menu.
- Spa - The European Health Spa offers relaxing therapies including massage, body wraps,
scrubs, a hydrotherapy tub, and more.
- Arcade - fun games for the kids.
- Weddings - Cal-Neva is famous as a wedding and honeymoon destination. Ceremonies and receptions
can be held on a terrace overlooking Lake Tahoe. Photography and floral services are also available.
